Clear answers to the questions eBay sellers actually ask about FVF, VAT, regulatory charges and the 2026 INAD surcharge.
The Final Value Fee (FVF) is a percentage of the total sale amount including shipping and any sales tax. The rate depends on the marketplace and category — most US categories sit at 13.6% on the first $7,500, while the UK is mostly a flat 12.8%. Our calculator applies the exact tier or threshold rate for the item you enter.
Yes. Since October 2024, UK-based private sellers pay zero fees on domestic sales — no FVF, no per-order fee, no regulatory fee. Switch Seller Type to Private and the calculator returns £0.00. Promoted listing rates still apply if you enable them.
Germany includes Mehrwertsteuer (VAT) directly inside the fee rate — eBay does not add it on top. Our calculator uses the all-inclusive rate, so a €105 business sale in Most Categories returns €11.90 total. Calculators that show roughly €10 plus VAT separately are misreporting it.
Sellers with high Item Not As Described return rates get a surcharge (5% in the US, 4% in the UK) on each transaction. Toggle INAD Very High in the calculator to see the impact. Important: Below Standard and INAD do not stack — if both apply, only Below Standard counts.
Top Rated Sellers get a 10% discount on the FVF only — other fees stay at full rate. Australia is the outlier at 20%, the highest of any marketplace.
eBay charges a fixed per-order fee on top of the FVF: $0.30 for US orders up to $10 and $0.40 above; £0.30 in the UK; €0.05 or €0.35 in EU markets depending on order size. US Athletic Shoes above $150 are the only category exempt.
No. The Promoted Listing ad rate is calculated on the sold price only — shipping and tax are excluded. Adjust the rate slider between 0% and 100% in 5% steps.
The 0.35% Operating Fee applies to UK, France and Italy business sellers on every transaction. UK private sellers on domestic sales pay £0. The calculator handles this automatically based on the Seller Type you choose.
Every rate is sourced directly from eBay's official seller fee pages. Each marketplace carries a feeDataVersion tag and we re-verify rates after each official update. The current data set was last refreshed in February 2026.
